James Lu is a seasoned entrepreneur, investor, and executive with over 17 years of experience in the consumer technology space.

Prior to founding Joffre Capital in 2018, Mr. Lu was a Vice President at Baidu, one of the largest Chinese internet providers, where he was responsible for the content ecosystem business group.  Previously, he was founder and general manager of Amazon Marketing Services and was a founding team member of chegg.com.  Mr. Lu began his career by serving as a software engineer at NASA.

He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Grindr, the world’s largest LGBTQ social dating service application, and previously on the board of Kuaishou.

Mr. Lu received his bachelor of science and master of science in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.  Mr. Lu is also a member of the Provost Advisory Committee at his alma mater.
